Quinn {6 months old!}

Posted on June 25, 2012

I have scheduled photo sessions in a park only to show up and find a huge festival going on. I have tripped, fallen in to holes, and come inches from backing up into a lake! I have stepped in dog AND goose poo. I give horrible directions when posing and I get nervous before any photo shoot. But, never have I actually FORGOTTEN to bring a vital/item for session with me. *Drum Roll Please*….until Yesterday.

I packed up my car an hour before I had to leave like I usually do. I double checked everything, and I stood in front of my “studio stash” for a good 10 minutes making sure I grabbed everything I wanted/needed. It was an indoor session so I had my backdrops, my clamps, headbands, tutu’s and dresses. Had my camera, my light, extra batteries, memory cards and lenses. I pulled out of the drive way and thought to myself ‘what am I forgetting?’ Went thru it all in my head and decided I was good to go. Just paranoid for no reason. Drive in to Roxborough and get 2 minutes from my clients home and THEN I remembered what I forgot. MY BACKDROP STAND! Yeah….something I really kind of need! It’s never a phone call that you want to make…and never before had I had to do it….to call my client to tell them “Oh hey, I am super close to you but have to go all the way back home to get something I totally need to totally forgot.”

I felt AWFUL! And being this was a 6 month session, we didn’t have much time to spare. Babies nap!

It was seriously a seen from a movie…you know the ones,  where the world is against you. Driving back home on Titan Road I get stuck behind the slowest truck EVER! Finally get into Highlands Ranch only to hit every single red light. I would have made great time, if only I didn’t have a fear of speeding! (That’s another story!)

I can guarantee I won’t ever forget that again!

Lucky for me, my clients are awesome and didn’t yell at me like it had played out in my head. I’m sure they weren’t exactly happy with me….but in the end it worked out. We had a beautiful session and baby Quinn (Whom you might remember from this session) did wonderful! We did have to work fast, but we managed to get a lot of shots, a ton of smiles and even some with mom and dad!

Moral of the story, be ready for anything if you decide to book me as your photographer ;) I promise to give you something to talk about!  And lucky for you, thanks to this experience I don’t think I will forget anything again!
